Childcare at Schoolhouse 226

Philosophy

Schoolhouse 226 is committed to nurturing the growth and development of each child as a unique individual. We strive to provide a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and a passion for learning. We are guided by Proverbs 22:6, which teaches, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it."

Academic Curriculum

At Schoolhouse 226, our curriculum is tailored to address the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of every child. We utilize a play-based approach to foster exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Being locally owned allows us to align with the expectations of local Independent School Districts (ISDs) and adapt our methods to the changing needs of our students, ensuring their success in kindergarten.

Spiritual Development

Spiritual development in preschoolers involves nurturing their sense of wonder, curiosity, and understanding of the world around them.  Engaging preschoolers in activities such as storytelling, songs, nature walks, and service to one another can help them develop fruits of the spirit such as patience, kindness, and self-control.  All children are "fearfully and wonderfully made".  We strive to illustrate how much God loves them and help them become the beautiful person God created them to be.

Catered Meals

A healthy meal is crucial for preschoolers as it provides the essential nutrients they need for growth, development, and learning. During these formative years, children are full of energy and curiosity, and a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins supports their physical and cognitive development.  Establishing healthy eating habits early on can set the foundation for lifelong wellness, encouraging kids to make nutritious choices as they grow. We serve heathy, catered meals daily to feed the minds and bodies of our preschoolers.

Teachers and Staff

Our teachers at Schoolhouse 226 are dedicated professionals who are passionate about working with children. They are trained in child development and early childhood education and are committed to providing a high-quality learning experience for your child. Our staff enthusiastically participates in ongoing educational opportunities to ensure we are always equipped with the best for the children we serve.

Moving our Bodies

At this age, children are naturally active and curious.  Engaging in movement helps them develop essential motor skills, coordination, and balance. It also strengthens their muscles and bones, promotes cardiovascular health and is linked to cognitive development including enhanced concentration, problem-solving skills, and creativity. Socially, physical play encourages teamwork and communication, fostering important social skills and friendships.  At Schoolhouse 226, we incorporate physical activity consistently throughout the day both inside the classroom and on the playground.
